Amber Kofoed

Reed Kofoed's wife Amber has been diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. She had surgery where they removed her Thyroid and one lymph node and is now undergoing radiation treatment. I am sure that they would appreciate our thoughts and prayers. I think we will get updates by linking to Daleen's blog.

Family 90th Celebration

Dearest All,

We will be celebrating Grandma's 90th birthday Saturday, July 19^th, at our reunion at Lary's Lodge. We will then repeat the celebration for extended family (Walker and Packard cousins and family that cannot attend the reunion) and friends and neighbors (Weiser and Marsing people) at the Weiser Church, Saturday, August 30th. (This is a change from Sun., Aug. 31 that was first announced).

For the Reunion, WE ARE ASKING ALL FAMILIES to send Daleen a two sided page with your family picture/pictures with details of your family, bearing your testimony, expressing your love, etc. (like a family Christmas letter). We will put them in plastic sleeves in a binder (like Mom does for our family each year). Example: Wendell and Jean will have a two sided page, then Marc & Julie & family a two sided page, then Darin & Kim, and so forth. We will give this to her at the reunion and then we will display it at the Weiser event, where some will not be able to come again, but all will be represented.

Dee is putting together a slide show about Grandma's life. We will have stories, music, displays, treats, and activities. We will repeat some of these at Weiser along with a come-and-go open house.

We are excited to see you at our reunion for a wonderful time and celebration. Please get your pages to me at least by the first part of July. Thanks.

Dearest Family,

Welcome to the WENDELL H WALKER FAMILY Blog. We are excited to have this ready. We welcome input, suggestions, information and help as we communicate back and forth. We hope all will catch the vision of how this can strengthen and support our family.

Family gatherings: for example, KLynn is having a get-together at their barn during General Conference time. Click on the link and find out how you can be involved.

Reunion: We have lots of fun plans and a special event that Dee is already working on. Find out times, places, and assignments for a wonderful time.

Road Trips: There are families that have great plans and would love company. Anyone want to join them? Click on the link and find out when. (And I want visitors (Daleen) when you come this way. I realize Grandma lives close by, but we can share, right mom?) .

Individual Family Blogspots (and/or Web sites): We are concerned about keeping the Family site clear, not getting it too congested and cumbersome, because we are such a big family. We'd love to make it easy for you to look on the site and get the most important information. Then if you have more time, click on to links to find out other interesting things, in other words, Good, Better, and Best. When we want to unite in fasting and prayer, we want that in the forefront, then click on a link to follow continuing details. For example, many have been concerned about Izzy Costley with her cancer; we can announce a family fast on the main family site and then have family blog links that can connect you with individual families and more information (i.e. Daleen Kofoed's blog to Kerri's blog for information about Izzy). Well, you'll get the idea if you just start exploring! Some have family web sites, not blogs. We are working on how to get easy and current information without invading their privacy. Many don't have either as of now. We are hoping we can communicate with everyone, blog spots are easy to set up and free, but they are also public, so be careful about personal information.

To put info on our main family site please contact or email Ilona or myself. Lance can administrate the site also but he has done so much to get this going that we are trying to save him for all the hard stuff!!! You'll notice that the birthdays and anniversaries are only as up-to-date as Grandma's last directory so we would love your latest information. Have fun leaving comments on the links, we'd all like to hear from you!

What's a Blog?

Just so everyone knows, this website is called a blog (which is short for "web log"). As new posts get added, the old ones get pushed to the bottom of the page and eventually drop off. But they don't disappear! The Blog Archive section in the right-hand margin organizes all posts by year and month, so you can browse old topics if needed.

You can also bookmark individual posts. To do this, click on the post's title, wait for the page to reload (it will just show that particular post), then type Ctrl+D (or Cmd+D for you enlightened types). Enter a name for the bookmark and hit OK.

Also some posts are meant to stick around for a while. Links for these posts have been created in the Family Discussions section in the margin, to make it easier to find them after they've been pushed down the page.

If you have any questions on anything, be sure to ask Daleen. She's hip to all the latest techobabble and is dying to strut her stuff.

Comments

Blogger sometimes doesn't update comments right away, so if you leave a comment and it doesn't show up immediately, it's okay. It should appear in a few minutes.

Also there are rare circumstances where Blogger is under heavy load, and it takes longer to process. But if you add a comment and it doesn't show up within a couple hours, email me and I'll see if I can figure out what's going on. Email sent to the address at the bottom of the page will reach me (but please only use it for site-related issues, thanks ;) ).

Update: You may notice some posts don't have comments enabled. That's intentional. We're only enabling comments on the Family Discussion posts, so people can give feedback, communicate plans, etc.

Walker College Plans

Discussions here are for mini vacations where you want to invite any family members that are interested. Remember this is a public blog - personal details should be handled on the phone or in private emails. This is just a way to publish your general plans and see who is interested in joining you.
